Dallasites will soon be able to catch Highland Park alumna Claire DeJean close to home when the Tony Award-winning Broadway play Stereophonic makes its tour stop at the Winspear.
Stereophonic follows an up-and-coming rock band as it records a new album in the 1970s. DeJean performs in the show as singer-songwriter Diana. DeJean’s other film and TV credits include FX’s The Beauty, A Complete Unknown, and competing on The Voice.
DeJean said she was drawn to the role of Diana in Stereophonic after seeing the show on Broadway.
“I was really intrigued by its form. It is a play, and it also has these live music elements, so when I saw the role in the context of this play, I just thought, ‘wow, this is really similar to who I am,'” she said.
Stereophonic‘s tour will stop at the Winspear Opera House May 8-10. For tickets and other information, click here.
DeJean said she’s particularly excited to bring the show to audiences in her hometown.
“To be able to bring (the show) to Dallas is another dream because I grew up doing theater at Highland Park High School and in the Dallas area,” she said. “I’m just excited to perform in my hometown at one of our greatest venues.”
