The stars were out for the Farrah Fawcett Foundation’s annual Tex-Mex Fiesta.

Fawcett created the Farrah Fawcett Foundation in 2007 after her cancer diagnosis. Her friend and fellow actress Alana Stewart now leads the foundation as CEO following Fawcett’s death in 2009.

For the past five years, the foundation has hosted the Tex-Mex Fiesta at the Rustic, fundraising for cancer research. The event Sept. 24, co-chaired by Stewart, Fawcett’s Charlie’s Angels co-star Jaclyn Smith and Donna Mills, supported Stand Up to Cancer and the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, which provides lodging in Dallas for cancer patients traveling for treatment. Chuck Steelman served as event chair and Katy and Lawrence Bock of Bachendorf’s served as honorary chairs.

“The people of Dallas have been so generous and so supportive and we just love coming here,” Stewart said. “We feel like the foundation and the work that we’re doing for cancer and for people who are suffering with cancer is also a big, big part of her legacy.”

She noted that with both her and Fawcett being from Texas, Dallas “just seems the right place to be” and that the event also celebrated the 50th anniversary of Charlie’s Angels.

Desperate Housewives star and cancer survivor Marcia Cross was this year’s Angel Award honoree.

Cross told the crowd about her own journey with cancer, reading a piece she wrote about losing hair during treatment.

“Losing our hair is not a choice. It happens to us. It affects our self esteem. It tells a story we may not want to tell,” she said. “I will never, ever forget all I learned from this slow, steady, and painful loss of what I thought was my best feature. My ego has suffered, but my soul has surely grown.”

Country-music duo Big & Rich entertained the crowd to wrap up the night.
