El Molino, an upscale Tex-Mex restaurant from Vandelay Hospitality, has an official opening date for a second location with an expanded menu.

El Molino opened its first location in Snider Plaza last year. It’s set to open its second in the former Anchor Sushi Bar space at 6025 Royal Lane suite 250 in Preston Hollow on Aug. 10, according to a press release. Anchor Sushi Bar, also a Vandelay concept, closed its Preston Hollow location there in May.

The new, approximately 6,000-square-foot Preston Hollow El Molino, will feature an expanded menu that includes appetizers such as elote corn chowder, tuna nachos, and entrees like shrimp brochette, filet mignon famosa and grilled sonora quail, as well as Tex-Mex favorites including fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas.

“We intentionally opened Anchor Bar in two very different footprints to determine the best long-term model for the brand,” said Vandelay CEO Hunter Pond. “What we learned is that Anchor is at its best in a more intimate setting, like our Knox location, and that’s the format we’ll continue to expand. A larger footprint is much better suited for a high-energy Tex-Mex concept like El Molino, making Preston Royal the ideal home for its next chapter.”
