Can you take a firearm with you into the crowded stands at a high school football game?
The answer might seem obvious to almost everyone, but apparently not to a man who was taken into custody for possessing a handgun during the Highland Park-Mesquite Horn game on Friday at Highlander Stadium.
According to University Park police, a spectator on the visitor side of the stadium reported to an officer that they saw another fan with a gun. When confronted, the perpetrator said he had a CHL but wasn’t aware that state law prohibits him from bringing the weapon into the stadium. He was detained without incident, and there’s no evidence of any harmful intent, police said.
Kip Alan Underwood, 58, of University Park was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully carrying a handgun.
