Preston Center’s Douglas Avenue glow up now includes a dazzling new restaurant. Duro Hospitality will debut Scilla, a coastal Italian restaurant that embraces seafood and wood-fired cooking. The restaurant opens to the public for dinner on Friday, July 17. Lunch service is expected to begin soon after.
Scilla is in the glossy new mixed-used development at 8111 Douglas Avenue that was built by Lincoln Property Company (LPC) on land owned by St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church. The development includes class A+ office space and luxury apartments and will be the new home to the commercial division of LPC and Sewell Automotive’s headquarters.
In typical Duro fashion, the restaurant’s décor is dramatic and preordained with a story line that embraces the mythical tension of beauty and danger, romance and drama, land and sea. Oh my! Good thing it’s next to a church.
The menu is inspired by the region, with pastas, arancini, and seafood along with grass-fed wagyu and lamb. There’s also a non-Italian paella on the menu.
Diners can expect a lively beverage program with a daily-changing wine list and creative cocktails.
Scilla is Duro’s northernmost dining outlet, with the bulk of their concepts located in the Design District and lower Greenville. Norman’s Japanese Grill was their first concept to inch north, with its location on Oaklawn Avenue in SoHip.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Duro! We’re glad to have you.
