Highland Park resident Jack Mueller, a freshman at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, won the 106-pound weight class at the National Prep Wrestling Championships, which were held Feb. 22-23 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. In the finals, Mueller defeated Ethan McCoy of the Kiski School (Saltsburg, Pa.) in overtime by a score of 15-13. Mueller is TCA’s first national champion wrestler, and he also set a Trojan wrestling record by winning 52 matches in a season.
