SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: TOW-TAL DISAPPEARANCE

Reported at 9:29 a.m. on June 23: A driver who parked his Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 in the 3700 block of Maplewood Avenue received a notification on his phone that his car had been in an accident. When he went looking for his vehicle, he found that it had been towed to Eton Avenue, probably due to road construction, and now had a crack in its windshield.

UNIVERSITY PARK

23 Monday

A reckless roadster failed to stop and leave information after hitting a Land Rover LR4 in Snider Plaza at about 12:53 p.m.

Reported at 6:55 p.m.: A greedy thief stole property worth between $750 and $2,500 from CVS on Preston Road.

26 Thursday

A 21-year-old man was arrested for failing to identify himself and on a warrant after a vehicle investigation at about 2:13 a.m. on Boedeker Street.

Reported at 8:13 a.m.: A criminal cruiser stole a Dodge Ram 1500 on Marquette Street.

27 Friday

Officers investigated a suspicious call in The Plaza at Preston Center and arrested a 40-year-old man at about 10:48 p.m. for possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct involving a firearm, theft of a firearm, assault of a public servant and on a warrant.

28 Saturday

Reported at 6:30 p.m.: The theft of property worth more than $100 on Milton Avenue.

29 Sunday

Reported at 4:57 a.m.: Officers at a traffic stop investigated a 19-year-old man for suspected possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication near the intersection of Airline Road and Lovers Lane.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open alcohol container and possession of marijuana at about 3:52 a.m. on Airline Road.

A vehicle was reported stolen at about 5:52 p.m. on Westminster Avenue.

HIGHLAND PARK

23 Monday

A 40-year-old man was arrested on warrants at about 12:43 p.m. near the intersection of Wycliff Avenue and Oak Lawn Avenue.

25 Wednesday

A thief helped themselves to the contents of an unlocked GMC truck in the 3700 block of Miramar Avenue before 7:45 p.m., including a Glock pistol with an attached weapon light, a gym bag, gym accessories, Hoka running shoes, and a Jiu-Jitsu Gi and belt.

27 Friday

A careless driver left scratches and scuffs on a Toyota Tacoma in the 3700 block of Beverly Drive before 5 p.m., but did not stop to leave information.

28 Saturday

A 44-year-old man was arrested at about 1:45 a.m. for failing to identify himself and for walking on a roadway when a sidewalk was available in the 4400 block of South Versailles Avenue.
