SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: COUNTERFLOW CRIMINAL

A disoriented driver first collided with a Kia sedan while going the wrong way in the Highland Park Village parking lot at about 8:48 p.m. on June 13, then hit a parked 2025 Lexus SUV as he took off without leaving information.

Reported at 9:37 a.m.: A derelict driver hit a 2024 Ford F-150 in May on University Boulevard, but took off without leaving information.

A troublemaker caused between $750 and $2,500 of damage to a home on Turtle Creek Boulevard at about 3:17 a.m.

Reported at 7:11 p.m.: A thief took off in a stolen 2021 Chevy Silverado parked in front of a home on Caruth Boulevard while its owner was out of town.
Officers responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 7400 block of Turtle Creek Boulevard at about 9:58 a.m.

9 Monday
A sharp-eyed officer spotted a 2011 Dodge Charger with a fictitious buyer tag in the 5400 block of Preston Road at about 8:12 a.m. After discovering that the car’s vin number had been tampered with, police impounded the car and cited its owner for failing to have insurance.
A sneaky thief stole dry wall tools and a Ridgid air compressor from contractor trucks in the 4500 block of Lorraine Avenue before 9:30 a.m.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on a felony warrant at about 6:55 p.m. in the 4500 block of Arcady Avenue.
10 Tuesday
A low-level criminal may have deflated two tires on a Toyota Tundra in the 4600 block of South Versailles Avenue before 9 a.m.
A bumbling burglar stole a chainsaw and blower from the back of a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 in the 3500 block of Lindenwood Avenue before 5 p.m., but dropped another tool and drove off after he was spotted by the truck’s owner.

While workers did routine maintenance on the HVAC system at Whole Foods in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive, their van was a hot target for thieves who stole tools and damaged the driver’s door lock before 3 p.m.
A 50-year-old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in the 4500 block of Roland Avenue at about 3:39 p.m.
Reported at 6:20 p.m.: License plate looters replaced the plate of a 2024 BMW X5 in the 3900 block of Miramar Avenue with a stolen plate between June 8 and 10.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old man on a felony warrant at about 1:05 a.m. in the 5500 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

A shady thief broke the driver’s side front window of a 2021 Honda Pilot in the 5500 block of Fairfield Avenue and stole a pair of Oakley sunglasses before 1:02 a.m.
Another thief with a taste for expensive eyewear broke the front passenger side window of a 2014 Ford Focus in the 5200 block of Oxford Avenue before 6 a.m. and stole a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses.

Reported at 8:52 a.m.: A scammer purporting to be a “bank officer” tricked a woman in the 3200 block of Beverly Drive into purchasing $2,000 in gift cards from Nordstrom and lululemon and giving her the numbers.

An opportunistic thief stole a North Face backpack containing workout clothes and a wallet, along with a fly fishing bag holding two rods and three reels from a Dodge Ram 1500 that may have been left unlocked in the 3600 block of Shenandoah Avenue.
