“The real grief,” Mary C. Lawson Corrigan says, “begins when the crowds go home.”
Corrigan, a certified senior adviser, is founder of Journey for H.O.P.E., a Dallas-based concierge service that supports families navigating aging, crisis, and end-of-life transitions.
Corrigan usually works with adult children of aging parents. But after the tragic passing of Hadley Hanna, the daughter of her close friend Carrie Hanna, Corrigan and Highland Park High School friends created a grief support checklist specifically for families who have lost a child in sudden traumatic events, such as the recent Hill Country floods.
“This list,” Corrigan says, “was born from heartbreak and designed to remind communities that the real healing begins after the funeral.”
