The big bad wolf may have been doing some huffing and puffing in University Park.
A 65-foot section of the Turtle Creek retaining wall at Curtis Park has failed. The city council approved a proposal from engineering firm Walter P. Moore L.P. to design repairs during its July 15 meeting.
The wolf may not have needed to blow very hard — the retaining wall in Curtis Park is close to 100 years old, parks and recreation director Sean Johnson told the city council during the meeting.
Walter P. Moore L.P.’s $72,848 proposal to design a replacement for the failed section includes project management, the preparation of construction documents, bid phase coordination, construction administration, and special services, such as a topographic survey and geotechnical engineering.
The firm will also create designs for the replacement of 30 feet on either side of the failed area in order to maintain continuity.
The design is expected to take about 100 days, Johnson said, and the city council will need to approve construction costs before repairs begin.
