SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: NOT-SO-STEALTHY THIEF
A bumbling burglar woke the neighborhood when they targeted a BMW in the 3600 block of Beverly Drive at about 2:27 a.m. on Aug. 31. Nothing was reported stolen, but the thief set off the car alarm when they broke a window, causing the horn to honk and lights to flash.

25 Monday
A 48-year-old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15 at about 1:26 a.m. in the 5400 block of Eton Avenue.
A reckless roadster struck the side mirror of a Chevy Suburban in the 4400 block of Edmondson Avenue at about 9:39 a.m., but did not stop to leave information.
Reported at 12:26 p.m.: A sneaky shopper used an American Express card they stole from a woman’s purse on Aug. 9 to make a $5,434.15 purchase at Maison Goyard in Highland Park Village. They tried to make another $3,085.13 purchase at Louis Vuitton, but the card was declined.
26 Tuesday
A burglar broke a window of a Volvo XC60 parked in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue before 9:25 p.m. and stole an Armor work bag containing USB drives, a bluetooth mouse, a Dell touchscreen laptop, and an HP touchscreen laptop.
29 Friday
A 44-year-old man was arrested on multiple warrants at about 1:01 a.m. near the intersection of Preston Road and Beverly Drive.
