Early voting for the March 3 primary election is underway. Before you head to the polls, here’s what to know about who’s on the ballot and what you’ll need to vote.
The early voting period runs through Feb. 27. During the early voting period, voters in Dallas County can vote at any countywide vote center. Voting will be precinct based on election day, March 3.
Here are some of the key races, how to check your voter registration, and what you’ll need to bring to the polls.
Key races on the ballot:
U.S. Senate
The ballot is topped with the race for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by incumbent GOP Sen. John Cornyn. On the Republican side, Cornyn faces challenges from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Congressman Wesley Hunt, among others. On the Democratic side, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico are the frontrunners for their party’s nomination.

U.S. House District 33
Former Congressman Colin Allred and Congresswoman Julie Johnson, who currently represents the recently redrawn House District 32, are among those vying for the Democratic Party’s nomination. On the Republican side of the aisle, four candidates — Patrick David Gillespie, John Sims, Monte “Doc” Mitchell, and Kurt Schwab — are vying for their party’s nomination.
Texas House District 108
In this Texas House seat representing the Park Cities and Preston Hollow, incumbent Morgan Meyer faces a challenge in the Republican primary from Sanjay Narayan. The winner of the Republican primary will go on to face the Democrat candidate, business owner and author Allison Mitchell.

To check the Democratic or Republican countywide sample ballot or look up a specific sample ballot, check the Dallas County Elections Department website.

What do you need to bring to vote?
Voters will need to bring one of the following forms of ID to vote:
- Driver’s license
- Personal ID card
- U.S. Passport
- Election ID certificate
- Texas handgun license
- U.S. Citizenship certificate
- U.S. Military ID card
Those that don’t have any of those forms of ID can vote by filling out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and show an original copy of a birth certificate, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or government document with the voter’s name and address, including a voter registration certificate.
