SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: BUNGLED BURGLARY

Reported at 2:49 a.m. May 17: A would-be burglar tried to get into a Chevrolet Silverado in the 3600 block of Dartmouth Avenue, but fled the scene upon seeing that the truck’s owner was sitting inside.

HIGHLAND PARK

11 Monday

Arrested at 4:27 a.m.: A 27 year old for assault causing bodily injury to a family member and interfering with an emergency call in the 4500 block of Fairfax Avenue.

Reported at 4:51 p.m.: A careless driver hit a Porsche Macan parked in the 5000 block of Abbott Avenue and didn’t stop to provide information.

12 Tuesday

Reported at 7:31 a.m.: A stealer drove off in a GMC Yukon that was parked in the 4500 block of Belclaire Avenue, and took four pairs of designer sunglasses worth about $1,000 from inside.

Reported at 10:20 a.m.: A burglar broke into a GMC Sierra in the 4400 block of Belclaire Avenue and rummaged through it.

13 Wednesday

Reported at 7:33 a.m.: A crook broke into a Ford F-150 in the 3400 block of Drexel Drive, leaving the rear driver side window broken, and swiped a Nike backpack, a $1,200 MacBook, and various school supplies. The backpack with laptop and school supplies were later found.

Reported at 8:47 a.m.: How easy was it for a burglar to get into a Tesla in the 3500 block of Drexel Drive? It was left unlocked.

Reported at 9:02 a.m.: An opportunistic mischief maker rummaged through a Lincoln Nautilus that was left unlocked in the 3500 block of Drexel Drive.

16 Saturday

Arrested at 4:01 a.m.: A 53 year old for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and manually delivering a controlled substance in the 3200 block of Beverly Drive.

Reported at 9:04 a.m.: A burglar shattered a window of a GMC Denali in the 4200 block of Potomac Avenue and took a Smith and Wesson subcompact pistol and various debit cards.

Reported at 10:35 a.m.: A ne’er do well got into a Cadillac SUV in the 4200 block of Potomac Avenue and stole $50 in cash and a $150 pair of sunglasses.

Arrested at 2:44 p.m.: A 36 year old for theft of mail in the 4600 block of Westside Drive.

Arrested at 10:45 a.m.: A woman for possession of a controlled substance on Turtle Creek Boulevard.

Reported at 7:24 a.m.: A burglar got into a vehicle on Normandy Avenue.

Reported at 6:42 a.m.: A crook entered a vehicle on Milton Avenue.

Reported at 9:40 a.m.: A troublemaker damaged and stole items from a construction site on Shenandoah Street.

Reported at 12:23 p.m.: A burglar got into a vehicle on Westminster Avenue.

Reported at 12:30 p.m.: A ne’er do well took stuff from a vehicle on Rosedale Avenue.

Reported at 8:40 a.m.: A pilferer stole packages from a home on Amherst Street.

Reported at 9:39 a.m.: A thief took stuff from a home on McFarlin Boulevard.

Reported at 5:17 p.m.: A fraudster defrauded a resident of Marquette Street.

Reported at 9 p.m.: A shoplifter stole stuff from a CVS store on Preston Road.

16 Saturday

Reported at 8:20 a.m.: A crook took stuff from a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard.

Reported at 8:55 a.m.: How easy was it for a burglar to get into a vehicle on McFarlin Boulevard? The vehicle was left unlocked.

Reported at 9:07 a.m.: A trespasser got into a vehicle on San Carlos Drive.

Reported at 9:33 a.m.: A burglar broke into a vehicle on Windsor Parkway that’d been parked on the street.

Reported at 3:11 p.m.: A porch pirate pilfered packages from a home in the 3900 block of Marquette Street.
