The Highland Park Town Council study session got its wheels rolling with Highland Park on Demand’s launch efforts, as well as their new budget for 2026.
Highland Park town officials said on Tuesday that the town’s microtransit service, Highland Park on Demand, has grown with hundreds of new accounts. The service launched on May 13 and has had 479 new accounts created, with 595 rides completed so far.
The service is undergoing its six-month pilot phase, free to all Highland Park residents who can find more information on their website.
Highland Park Officials Lead with New Budget
Officials also stated that the 2026 Preliminary Taxable Value totals a whopping $11,383,660,802, representing a 10.6% increase over the 2025 value.
The estimated preliminary budget, according to officials, is $11.2 billion, with the certified property values to be released on July 25.
In other news, the town council:
- Approved the town’s strategic plan regarding organizations and community engagement
- Reappointed Mayor Pro Tem Don Snell
- Approved the appointment of Chair Alison Hunsicker and members Jim Yoder, Joan Clark, Robert McCulloch, Nancy Rogers, alongside alternate members Hiram Louis Morrison and Sam Dalton to the Board of Adjustment and Planning
- Approved the appointment of Chair Ralph Perry-Miller, and members Sheila Holmes, Bob Kaminski, Mark Marynick, and Jordan Wallace to the Zoning Commission
- Approved the appointment of Chair Andrew Welch, members Laura Downing, Nancy Schmidt, along with Leland White, and Alan Friedman as town council members to the Finance and Audit Advisory Committee
