The University Park City Council recognized Teresa Hook, operations coordinator for warehouse and equipment services, on her retirement after more than 30 years during its June 2 meeting.
Throughout Hook’s career, she performed practical, behind the scenes tasks that kept the city moving, director of finance Tom Tvardzik said.
“Teresa did the necessary things that allowed others to do their job,” he continued. “But just as important as what Teresa did is how she did it.”
Tvardzik said that Hook had been recognized for her excellent customer service, rapport with co-workers, and ability to follow-through and deliver on requests. Hook was named employee of the year in 2006.
“Teresa’s career exemplifies the slogan at the bottom of our stationary: ‘Committed to Excellence,’” Tvardzik said. “Teresa leaves behind a record of service marked by reliability, institutional knowledge, and a steady commitment to doing the work well.”
Also during the meeting, the City Council:
- Approved a change order and final payment for renovations to the public safety building at 5620 Fondren Drive.
- Authorized the city manager to enter into an agreement with Highland Park and SMU that would allow their radio systems to communicate on an interoperable basis.
