Highland Park rising sophomore Scottie Scheffler qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur, which is July 18-23 in Bremont, Wash., by winning Monday’s qualifier at Vaquero Golf Club in Westlake. Scheffler shot a 140 (70-66).
Scheffler, who helped the Scots to a second-place finish at the Class 4A state tournament last month, will also play in the Texas Golf Association Texas Amateur today through Sunday at Austin Country Club. Former Jesuit standout Jordan Spieth is also in the field.
