SMU junior cornerback Kenneth Acker was rewarded for his monster game against Stephen F. Austin by being named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.
Acker returned a blocked field goal 56 yards for a touchdown, and then returned an interception 77 yards for another score in SMU’s 52-0 win over the Lumberjacks. He also had another interception as part of a 10 forced turnovers by the Ponies.
SMU (1-1) takes on Texas A&M (0-1) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ford Stadium.
