Highland Park senior Clayton Staunton started this gymnastics season just like he finished the last one.
Staunton won all six events, plus the all-around title, and scored two perfect 10s as the Scots earned the team title at the season-opening Lakeview Invitational on Nov. 17 in Garland.
HP’s John Sartain tied for first place on vault, was second on pommel horse, and finished fourth in the all-around standings.
On the girls side, HP also claimed team gold behind the tandem of Ana Simpson and Lily Ford. Simpson won three of the four individual events — vault, uneven bars, and balance beam — in addition to the all-around crown.
Ford took first on floor exercise and was the runner-up behind Simpson in every other event. Margaret Maambo placed third on floor and fourth in the all-around in her Lady Scots debut.
Both HP squads will continue the compulsory portion of their schedule on Dec. 1-2 at the Toys for Tots Invitational in Hurst.
