Founders Rowing Club achieved history with four medals at the recent USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida.
The all-girls organization based at Bachman Lake brought home two gold medals, as well as a silver and a bronze, for its best-ever finish at the prestigious national regatta.
Founders, which includes athletes from Hockaday and Alcuin among other schools, won the title in the Women Youth 2V Quad and Woman U17 4x Quad divisions. The club also was the runner-up in Women Youth 2V Quad and placed third in Women Youth Quad.
The club was founded in 2012 by head coach Matt Naifeh and currently includes 16 girls in various age groups. Founders had taken boats to nationals almost every year but had never earned a medal before claiming four this time.
