Resilience has characterized the first month of Hillcrest’s volleyball season, which was evidenced again during Tuesday’s win over rival W.T. White.
The Lady Panthers, who won a District 13-5A title last season, dropped the first set before rallying to win decisively, 18-25, 25-8, 25-17, 25-14, in this year’s league opener.
Hillcrest’s ability to battle back already was tested earlier this season, when the team rebounded from an 0-5 start against challenging competition at a tournament in Abilene before later earning victories against Irving MacArthur, Richardson Berkner, and Lake Dallas.
Next up, the Lady Panthers (9-10, 1-0) will continue district play on Friday against Adamson, while the Longhorns (14-11, 0-1) will travel to face South Oak Cliff.
