Highland Park is rolling. Tyler is not quite.
Yet when they meet at 7 p.m. Friday night at Rose Stadium in Tyler, momentum may not matter because they will clash in a district contest. Those are games where the foes know each other well, so outcomes tend to hang in the balance for the majority or all of the contest.
The Scots are 3-1 and on a scoring binge. Their previous two games, against Dallas Jesuit and Little Rock (Ark.) Pulaski Academy have resulted in a 100-40 margin. Before that, the Scots scored 70 points in what amounts to a game and a half, since their Week 2 matchup at Lovejoy was shortened to two quarters by weather.
Tyler is 1-3 entering the game, coming off a one-possession loss to Lufkin, 28-21. The Lions also have a one-point loss, 43-42 in the season opener against Marshall. In Week 2 came a 48-21 loss at Tyler Legacy before a 63-0 victory against Seagoville on Sept. 12, their previous home game.
