A go-ahead goal by Greyson Bailey lifted Highland Park to a 2-1 win over Carrollton Creekview in the District 12-5A boys soccer opener on Thursday at Highlander Stadium.

Jake Rhine added a goal for the Scots (5-2-1, 1-0), while Trey Shamburger had two assists. HP extended its winning streak to five game overall — with at least two goals in each of those victories.

In girls action, HP nearly doubled its offensive output for the entire season during an 8-0 drubbing of Creekview on Thursday to start district play.

Londy Hutchinson scored twice for the Lady Scots (4-2-1, 1-0), with other goals coming from Anna Heinrich, Adeline Jacobs, Maiya Kay, Harlan Graham, Greer Crow, and Lauren Dyer.

HP bounced back after some mixed results last weekend at a tournament in Duncanville, where the Lady Scots defeated Arlington Martin, lost to Ursuline, and played a scoreless draw with Mansfield Lake Ridge.

The HP girls will return home to face Frisco Lone Star on Tuesday, while the boys will be on the road against the Rangers.
