Eight Ursuline athletes finalized their collegiate plans Wednesday when they participated in National Signing Day.
The class featured a pair of volleyball players in addition to three soccer players now set to disperse throughout the country.
In volleyball, Dixie Gayden and Kate Nordyke signed with the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Smith College (Northampton, Massachusetts), respectively, while lacrosse player Emerson Chen is heading to Greenville, South Carolina, and Furman University.
On the pitch, members of Ursuline’s powerhouse soccer team inking letters of intent were Mimi Flanagan (University of Tennessee), Lily Marquez (Army West Point), and Makenzie Majors (Texas Christian University).
Rounding out the signing class for the Bears are rower Alaina Gonzalez (University of Tulsa) and cross country and track athlete Presley Andras (University of Houston).
“These eight athletes have put so much time and hard work into their respective sports, and we could not be prouder,” said Stefanie Hill, Ursuline athletic director. “As a school, we intentionally celebrate our college athletes this week in February, as it coincides with National Girls and Women in Sport Day, which is a reason for us to pause and commemorate. We look back with grateful hearts to the women who have come before us and all they have done to help create the opportunities that currently exist for female athletes.”
