It’s officially playoff time for local basketball programs competing in the UIL, while state championships are set to be decided this week for teams in TAPPS.
Below is a look at what’s in store on the hardcourt this week for squads from Park Cities and Preston Hollow:
UIL
Class 6A
Jesuit Dallas (17-13, 10-4 in District 7-6A)
The Rangers enter the Division 2 playoffs as the top seed out of 7-6A after finishing second in district behind Lake Highlands (13-1).
Neighborhood Spotlight
Preston Hollow
Jesuit will square off against Arlington Bowie at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coppell.
The Volunteers finished fourth in 8-6A and take on a Jesuit squad that has won six games in a row by double figures. Bowie, meanwhile, went 10-21 overall but earned a playoff berth via a 7-7 mark in district.
Tuesday’s winner could have its hands full in the area round as they draw the winner between state-ranked Little Elm (No. 3 in the final Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll) and McKinney.
Class 5A
Highland Park (21-11, 11-3 in 12-5A)
The Scots enter the Division I playoffs as the second seed out of 12-5A after finishing second in district behind Frisco Reedy (12-2).
HP will square off against Frisco Heritage at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Flower Mound Marcus.
The Coyotes hit the playoffs as the state’s top-ranked team following a regular season in which they went 28-2, including 14-0 in 11-5A.
Heritage is powered by the tandem of Duke signee Bryson Howard (the No. 15-ranked player in 2026 by 247sports.com) and SMU signee Cameron Lomax.
Tuesday’s winner will advance to face the winner between Melissa and Tyler.
Hillcrest (15-15, 8-4 in 13-5A)
The Panthers enter the Division 2 playoffs as the No. 2 seed after finishing third in 13-5A in the first season under head coach Jordon Adams.
Hillcrest will square off Mesquite Poteet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Berkner.
The Pirates went 18-11 and are the top seed from 13-5A despite placing third at 10-4.
The winner between Ellison and Crandall will face either the Panthers or Pirates in the area round.
TAPPS
Class 6A
Parish Episcopal (17-6)
The Panthers will compete in the semifinals of the state tournament against Plano John Paul II at 2 p.m. Friday at University High School in Waco.
Parish is ranked third in 6A by the TGCA, while John Paul comes in at No. 2.
Parish reached the semifinals by defeating Bishop Lynch, 65-51, while John Paul knocked off Trinity Christian Academy, 65-55.
Saturday’s championship game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Robinson High School.
Class 3A
Yavneh Academy (12-7)
The Bulldogs will compete in the semifinals of the state tournament against Fort Worth Covenant Classical at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson.
Covenant (No. 9) is coming off a win over No. 5 Dallas Lakehill Prep School, 52-46, while Yavneh (No. 7) defeated Fort Worth Christian Life Prep, 59-44, and No. 6 Lucas Christian Academy, 32-28.
The championship game is set for 4 p.m. Thursday at Robinson.
