Assuming the weather cooperates, regular-season games don’t get a whole lot bigger than tonight’s 7:30 District 10-4A contest between Highland Park Scots and Rockwall-Heath.
The Scots (20-2, 5-0) are ranked No. 1 in the Texas Baseball Coaches Association’s Class 4A state poll and have won five straight games. The Hawks (19-3-1, 5-0) are ranked No. 5 and have won two straight since losing to Frisco Wakeland in a non-district game on March 19.
Heath is the defending district champion. The Hawks went 39-3 (14-0) last season and made it to the regional finals, where they fell to Wakeland. Wakeland also beat the Scots in bi-district on its way to the state tournament.
The winner of tonight’s game will have sole possession of first place in the district heading into the final two games of the first half of district play.
