La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, which has contributed more than $11.79 million to the Park Cities community since its founding in 1986, kicked off its 2026 season with the Deep in the Heart of Texas Preview Luncheon on April 15 at the Arts District Mansion.
The luncheon honored the mothers of this year’s Duchesses and Escorts. During the event, mothers were given a special preview of the Presentation Gala through miniature replicas of the Duchesses’ gowns — each one custom-designed by the Duchesses themselves and brought to life by Margaret Stickney and her team. The luncheon was hosted by Gini Florer and Elizabeth Miller, and was sponsored by Highland Park Village.
Each year, La Fiesta celebrates one of the six flags that have flown over Texas. Embracing the theme Celebrate the Lone Star State, the 2026 season honors the flag of the Republic of Texas, highlighting the state’s rich heritage and enduring spirit. The 2026 season is led by president Chris Palmer and chairs Leslie Carroll and Missy Finger.
A central tradition of La Fiesta is the presentation of the Duchesses and Escorts. This year’s 41 young women and men were selected for their leadership, academic achievement, community involvement, and strong character. The 2026 Presentation Gala will take place on June 6 at the Fairmont Dallas and is chaired by Beth Birdwell and Amy Kovac.
La Fiesta supports a wide range of educational, charitable, and civic initiatives, as well as works to preserve and enhance the cultural and historic character of Highland Park and University Park.
