Dallas Historical Society to Celebrate Awards of Excellence

The Dallas Historical Society is holding its 45th annual History Makers Awards for Excellence Luncheon on November 19, 2026. 

The Awards of Excellence were established in 1981 by the Trustees of the Dallas Historical Society. Individuals are recognized for their contributions to improving Dallas’ quality of life and supporting the community at its heart. 

This year’s award winners and categories include Jennifer Altabef, Arts Leadership; Irma Hall, Creative Arts; Dr. Joan Hill, Education; Dr. Robert Gunby, Health/Science Individual; Mike A. Myers Stroke Center, Health/Science Organization; Childcare Group Dallas, Humanities; Judge Sam Lindsay, Philanthropy; Genesis Women’s Shelter, Volunteer Community Leadership; Linda and John McFarland. Kay Bailey Hutchison will be honored as the Jubilee History Maker. 

The three-course luncheon and awards ceremony will be held at the Fairmont Hotel. More information can be found on Dallas Historical Society’s website
