Grammy-winning country singer and songwriter Martina McBride will perform at the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society 40th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon.
The Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society is a community of North Texas civic and business leaders who each give $10,000 or more a year to United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. The organization will celebrate its 40th anniversary Feb. 3, 2027 with a luncheon at the Fairmont Dallas Hotel.
The festivities will feature a performance by McBride and a discussion with her, United Way leadership, and donors about philanthropy and community service in an event that will blend Texas and French influences in a nod to Alexis de Tocqueville.
Since its founding with 100 members in 1986, the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society has grown into the largest Tocqueville Society in the United Way network.
“The late Ruth Sharp Altshuler believed that lasting change happens when people come together around a shared commitment to their community,” said Jennifer Sampson, McDermott-Templeton president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. “Her vision continues to inspire the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society, whose members have spent four decades investing in opportunities that help North Texans thrive. As we celebrate this milestone, we not only look to celebrate the extraordinary impact, but to inspire the next generation of philanthropic leadership.”
The luncheon is chaired by the children of former Dallas Cowboys great Roger Staubauch and his wife, Marianne, along with their spouses: Jennifer and John Gates, Michelle and John Grimes, Amy and Jamie Mentgen, Stephanie and Todd Phillips, and Jenny and Jeff Staubach.
“Watching our father, Roger Staubach, co-chair the Tocqueville Society in 1995 taught us that philanthropy is about more than giving back — it’s about investing in the future of our community,” said former Dallas City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates, co-chair of the Tocqueville Society 40th Anniversary Luncheon. “To now chair this 40th anniversary celebration together as a family is both an honor and a full-circle moment. We’reproud to celebrate the extraordinary members whose collective generosity has strengthened North Texas and powered United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ transformative work for the past 40 years.”
Jill and Rod Burns, Laura and Jason Downing, Mike Hsu and Kaori Mitsuhashi, and Cristy and David McAtee are chairing the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society 40th anniversary year. Regen Horchow and Ken Hersh, Erin Nealy Cox and Trey Cox are serving as Honorary Chairs.
