After just one year as a North Texas resident, Wayne White made a bold assessment of the difference giving makes in this region.

“While I was not new to the profound impact that generosity and giving has on our quality of life, I am now certain that there’s nowhere as generous as North Texas,” he said in 2024.
White has now completed two years as president and CEO at Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), which is hosting its 17th North Texas Giving Day.
The annual online giving event, billed as CFT’s largest community initiative and the largest community-wide giving event in the nation, culminates on Thursday, Sept. 18, but there’s no need to wait.
Giving through NorthTexasGivingDay.org – a one-stop shop for supporting our community causes – opens on Thursday, Aug. 28, foundation leaders announced.

The foundation encourages eager donors to start the celebration early by going online to “shop” through the nonprofits and, if ready, donate before the big day.
The website also includes opportunities to volunteer and information about associated events, including many sponsored by participating nonprofits.
One hundred percent of each donation goes to nonprofits in more than 25 cause areas across 20 North Texas counties: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Montague, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise.
North Texas Giving Day – designed to increase support for local nonprofits and grow community donations – supports CFT’s mission to improve the lives of all people in the community by investing in their health, wealth, living, and learning.
Last year, more than $70 million was raised, benefiting over 3,200 local nonprofits and bringing the 16-year total to $635 million plus.
