The Scot Classic basketball tournament has endured for more than a half century, making it one of the oldest such events on the Dallas-area basketball calendar each season.
This season’s tournament features six boys teams and 12 girls teams who will play a minimum of three games each over three days. So there will be plenty of action on each day at three gyms — including two at Highland Park High School and the main gym at Highland Park Middle School.
The boys field is headlined by the Scots along with perennial Class 6A power South Grand Prairie. Midlothian and Lake Highlands also are included, plus two top homeschool programs, HSAA and the Oklahoma City Storm, which is the defending tournament champion.
On the girls side, HP the format is more traditional bracket play, with the Lady Scots opening against Ursuline on Thursday. Other teams include Grand Prairie, Wylie, Richardson Berkner, W.T. White, ESD, Trinity Christian, Garland, Frisco Centennial, and Conrad.
