HP’s Hawsey Has Strong Showing at State

Highland Park senior Marion Hawsey made history on March 19 just by competing at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state meet in Corpus Christi.

Then she raised the bar with a sixth-place finish in the 148-pound weight class. Hawsey became HP’s first regional champion earlier this month, which qualified her for the state meet.

Hawsey, daughter of HP assistant football coach Max Hawsey, recorded a bench press of 200 pounds in her first year competing in the sport.
