SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: CHRISTMAS CONUNDRUM

We’ve heard reports of a man in a sleigh flying over multiple cities on Dec. 24.

HIGHLAND PARK

19 Monday

Reported at 8:39 a.m.: a scammer used the information of a man from the 3600 block of Shenandoah Avenue to fraudulently cash two checks – one for $8,378.65 and one for $8,200.

How easy was it for a pilferer to pick up a Subwoofer from a BMW X3 parked in the 3800 block of Maplewood Avenue before 7 p.m.? The BMW was unlocked. 

20 Tuesday

Arrested at 12:30 a.m.: a 22-year-old woman accused of fraudulent use of identifying information at Fairfield Avenue and Maplewood Avenue.

Arrested at 12:30 a.m.: a 17 year old accused of fraudulent use of identifying information at Fairfield Avenue and Maplewood Avenue.

A careless driver hit the driver’s side mirror of a Dodge van parked in the 4300 block of Versailles Avenue at 10:17 a.m., briefly stopped to assess the damage, then left the scene without providing information.

Arrested at 2:23 p.m.: a 19 year old accused of forgery in the 5400 block of Preston Road.

An officer found a bag leaning against a stop sign pole in the 3200 block of Beverly Drive at 5:05 p.m. and contacted its owner.

21 Wednesday

Reported at 10:18 a.m.: a sneaky thief made off with a wallet from Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village.

A burglar stole an Electra Townie bike from a garage in the 3500 block of Harvard Avenue before 11:13 a.m.

A resident in the 4400 block of Arcady Avenue parked in a circular driveway, but after she went inside, her Lexus rolled back and ran over a street lamp before 5 p.m.

Arrested at 7:17 p.m.: a 45 year old for a warrant in the 4200 block of Edmonson Avenue.

22 Thursday

Arrested at 12:40 a.m.: a 27 year old for a warrant in the 4800 block of Preston Road.

Arrested at 3:08 a.m.: a 40-year-old man for a warrant in the 4200 block of Bordeaux Avenue.

A motorist who accidentally had her car in reverse rather than drive hit a fence in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive at 4:46 p.m.

23 Friday

Arrested at 8:48 p.m.: a 49 year old accused of driving while intoxicated in Highland Park Village.

UNIVERSITY PARK

19 Monday

An intruder found easy pickings of clothes and other stuff left in vehicles along Turtle Creek Boulevard and Greenbrier Drive before 7:33 a.m.

An opportunistic thief drove off in a Mercedes that was left unlocked in the 3900 block of Hanover Street before 8:20 a.m.

Reported at 10:24 a.m.: a Grinch stole presents left in a GMC Yukon in the 4100 block of Caruth Boulevard.

A burglar broke into a Lexus GX350 in the 3600 block of Greenbrier Drive before 11:49 a.m.

Reported at 6:35 p.m.: a scammer used the information of a man from the 3300 block of Milton Avenue to open credit accounts.

20 Tuesday

A trespasser got into an unlocked Chevrolet Suburban in the 3200 block of Bryn Mawr Drive before 3:02 a.m.

Arrested at 6:20 a.m.: a 38-year-old man accused of assault in the 3800 block of University Boulevard.

A jerk found easy pickings of a diono car seat in an unlocked Volkswagen in the 6800 block of Airline Road before 3 p.m. A car seat was also taken from a Lexus RX350 before 10:36 a.m.

21 Wednesday

A mischief maker tried to steal from an ATM in the 6800 block of Preston Road before 3:37 a.m.

Arrested at 8:42 a.m.: a 20-year-old man for a warrant in the 3800 block of University Boulevard.

22 Thursday

A purse pilferer found easy pickings of a Goyard bag with a MacBook Pro, cards, and more left in an unlocked Range Rover parked in the 4300 block of Lovers Lane before 6:45 p.m.

A shoplifter took stuff from a CVS in Snider Plaza before 7:41 p.m.

23 Friday

A thief took stuff in the 2800 block of Daniel Avenue before noon.

How easy was it for a burglar to take a $4,500 Prada piece, a $500 Tiffany piece, $4,500 worth of clothes, and more from a Volkswagen Passat parked in the 4400 block of Lovers Lane before 3:36 p.m.? The Passat was unlocked.

A pilferer picked up a MacBook and documents left in an unlocked GMC Denali in the 4300 block of Lovers Lane before 3:55 p.m.

24 Saturday

A burglar broke into a Mercedes parked in the 4300 block of Lovers Lane and grabbed clothes before 2:15 p.m.

25 Sunday

Arrested at 3:30 a.m.: a 57-year-old man accused of assault in the 3900 block of Southwestern Boulevard.
