SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: TOO EASY

How easy was it for a burglar to steal two purses holding identity documents, four credit/debit cards, $200 cash, and a negotiable instrument worth $3,000 from a woman’s Mercedes before 6:32 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 4400 block of Lovers Lane? The vehicle was left unlocked.

25 Monday

A jerk stole a man’s bike before 12:31 p.m. in the 3400 block of Granada Avenue.

26 Tuesday

A 40-year-old drunk driver was involved in a car accident before 3:53 a.m. in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway.

Reported around 9:49 a.m.: misuse of a trust fund in the 4000 block of Stanford Avenue.

A shoplifter stole six bottles of wine worth a total of $1,299.95 from Tom Thumb at The Plaza at Preston Center before 3:26 p.m.

Reported around 7:48 p.m.: A 54-year-old drunk driver was involved in a car accident in the 3000 block of Lovers Lane.

27 Wednesday

A 28-year-old was arrested around 12:01 a.m. for failing to provide accurate identification in the 6500 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

28 Thursday

Reported at 9:33 a.m.: A porch pirate stole two packages holding four Apple AirTags and kitchen supplies from a man’s porch in the 4100 block of Druid Lane.

30 Saturday

A 26-year-old was arrested on a warrant around 3:17 a.m. in the 3505 block of Lovers Lane.

25 Monday

Arrested around 3:49 p.m.: a 33-year-old drunk driver in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane.

26 Tuesday

A 59-year-old was arrested for public intoxication around 10:03 p.m. at the intersection of Douglas and Southern Avenues.

28 Thursday

A 23-year-old was arrested around 9:30 a.m. at the Department of Public Safety for a Class C warrant.

A 35-year-old was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, no car insurance, and no driver’s license around 10:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue.

A porch pirate stole a package from a woman’s porch at Alto Highland Park apartments before noon. The woman also reported that she believes a maintenance employee stole a $1,900 David Yurman 18k gold diamond ring from her closet around the same time.

A 45-year-old public drunk was arrested around 11 p.m. in the 4500 block of Belclaire Avenue.

29 Friday

A 32-year-old was arrested for drunk driving around 2:04 a.m. in the 4200 block of Potomac Avenue.

30 Saturday

Reported around 3:57 p.m.: A burglar damaged the lock of a woman’s loaner Chevrolet Silverado parked in the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue  and stole wrapped gifts, containing $585 worth of items — three perfumes, a battery box and batteries, a game, two jackets, socks, a vest, four sets of pajamas, a candle, and soap — while she was out of town between Dec. 26 and 30.
