Scheffler Repeats as PGA Tour Top Player

Scottie Scheffler was rewarded for another stellar season when his PGA Tour colleagues recognized him with a second straight player of the year award.

The honor was announced prior to The Sentry this week in Hawaii, which is the first tournament of 2024 for Scheffler and most of the top players on the tour.

Currently the top player in the Official World Golf Ranking, Scheffler won three tournaments last year — the Phoenix Open in February, the Players Championship in March, and the Hero World Challenge in December.

The former Highland Park standout showed remarkable consistency, making the cut in all 23 events he entered during the 2022-23 season, and finishing in the top 10 on 17 occasions, with purse money totaling more than $21 million. He led all players in scoring average per round.

Scheffler became the first player to repeat as winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award, as voted upon by his peers, since Tiger Woods in 2007. He was chosen over fellow finalists Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark, and Viktor Hovland.
