Freshman Paces Lady Scots in Denton

The Highland Park girls placed 12th against top competition in the elite varsity division at the Marcus Coach T Invitational cross country meet on Saturday at North Lakes Park in Denton.

Besides finishing in the top half of the team standings, the Lady Scots were led by freshman Maddie Heckler, who came in 17th place individually with a time of 18 minutes, 32 seconds.

In the boys race, HP placed 17th as a team in the elite varsity division, paced by junior William Jaudes, who completed the course in 16:34.

On Sept. 10, the Lady Scots will compete at the Bronco Stampede Invitational at Myers Park in McKinney, which also will be the site of the District 7-6A meet in mid-October. The HP boys will head to the Flower Mound Invitational.
