HP Earns Spots in Top Five at State Meet
Highland Park gymnasts earned podium finishes in both the boys and girls team standings at the recent Texas High School Gymnastics Coaches Association state meet in El Paso.
The Scots were fourth among boys teams for their fourth consecutive top-six podium placement. William Benz was sixth in the individual all-around standings while scoring top 10 efforts on pommel horse, horizontal bar, and floor exercise.
Ryder Greene posted top 10 finishes on parallel bars and rings. Other state competitors for HP included John Sartain, Tyler Abbara, Henrik Shalley, Garrett Moore, Brooks Brill and Joseph Swaldi.
In girls competition, HP came in fifth as a team. Margaret Maambo again paced the Lady Scots with a sixth-place finish in the all-around. Maambo placed fourth on vault and sixth on uneven bars.
Lila Hinze, a freshman, was fifth on bars for HP. Other state qualifiers included Eva Madden, Lauren Sweary, Era Johnston, and Caroline Fullwood.
